Cloud Migration Specialist Role

The role of a cloud migration specialist is crucial in ensuring the smooth transition of critical oil and gas subsurface applications and data from an on-premise environment to the cloud.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and document technical requirements, migration strategies, and scope for successful cloud migration projects.
  • Conduct thorough data mapping and analysis to assess migration readiness and dependencies, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Coordinate the setup of infrastructure and security measures, including IAM, backup, and networking configurations.
  • Manage integration impact and solution alignment across multiple vendors and systems, leveraging tools like Boomi and app-to-app integrations.
  • Oversee testing, validation, and user acceptance testing (UAT) activities to ensure seamless functionality and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with cloud migration projects, preferably on Azure or AWS platforms.
  • Strong understanding of subsurface oil and gas applications, including their complexities and nuances.
  • Ability to navigate complex, multi-vendor environments with confidence and expertise.
  • Comfortable working across infrastructure, application, and data layers, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills to effectively liaise between technical and business stakeholders, ensuring smooth project execution.
