Job Description:

The Australian Code for the Care and Use of Animals for Scientific Purposes guides our commitment to ensuring the ethical, humane, and responsible care and use of animals. Each Animal Ethics Committee (AEC) member plays a critical role in upholding this code.

As an AEC member, you will oversee activities relating to animal care and use for scientific and teaching purposes. You will ensure that all procedures comply with the Australian Code, fostering a culture of responsibility and compassion.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in monthly AEC meetings to discuss animal-related matters and make informed decisions
  • Conduct out-of-session reviews and animal facility inspections as required to ensure adherence to the Australian Code
  • Collaborate with other committee members to maintain expertise and fulfill membership criteria
Category C: Animal Welfare Member

Expressions of interest are sought for Category C members who have experience in furthering animal welfare and are not employed by or associated with our institution.

To be successful in this role, you must be willing to commit to attending regular AEC meetings and participating in out-of-sessions reviews and animal facility inspections as required.
