Job Title: Advancement Manager
Location: Camperdown Campus
The University of Sydney is seeking a skilled Advancement Manager to join their team at the Gadigal Centre. As an important member of the academic support team, you will play a key role in supporting the Gadigal Centre and its strategic objectives.
About the Role:
- Support the Advancement Team with a strong emphasis on improving academic outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
- Contribute to the delivery and continuous improvement of Gadigal Centre programs and services.
- Provide academic guidance and mentoring to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
- Develop and implement tailored learning support initiatives that promote academic progression, retention and completion.
- Liaise with other University Units to embed culturally responsive policies, procedures, and support frameworks for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
- Manage and develop Gadigal Centre staff to ensure high-quality delivery of academic and student support services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning and Implementation: Work closely with the Director and Program Manager of the Gadigal Centre to drive the implementation of student-focused initiatives.
- Staff Management: Lead the development and delivery of targeted academic support services, manage staff performance, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure culturally safe and effective student outcomes.
- Student Support: Provide academic guidance and mentoring to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, foster engagement, and support academic progression.
- Culturally Responsive Services: Develop and implement tailored learning support initiatives that promote academic progression, retention, and completion, and liaise with other University Units to embed culturally responsive policies, procedures, and support frameworks.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in the supervision, training, mentoring, and performance management of staff.
- Strong computer literacy skills, in particular corporate-level databases and information systems.
- Excellent time and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and achieve required outcomes.
- Effective and tactful communication skills together with strong problem-solving skills.
- The ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement.
Benefits:
- Full-time continuing employment contingent on external funding continuation.

- Base Salary $126,065 - $142,171 + 17% superannuation.
Other Information:
- Pre-employment checks are conditional upon satisfactory maintenance of all relevant clearances and background check requirements.
- Working with Children Check clearance is required under the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.
