Job Title: Staff Software Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced software engineer to join our core infrastructure group. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-impact infrastructure projects, shape robust cloud-native solutions, and mentor a distributed team of engineers.

About the Role:

  • Provide technical leadership across high-impact infrastructure projects.
  • Define architectural direction for core platform services.
  • Mentor and empower a distributed team of engineers.
  • Shaping the strategic roadmap for platform enablement.
  • Champion operational excellence.
  • Contribute to technical hiring.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement scalable infrastructure solutions.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deliver cloud-native applications.
  3. Lead large-scale infrastructure projects and influence engineering strategy.
  4. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in software engineering.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering with a strong foundation in infrastructure, cloud platforms (AWS required, GCP nice-to-have), and distributed systems.
  • Deep hands-on experience with Go, Python, or Java and enjoy designing complex systems.
  • Led large-scale infrastructure projects and influenced cross-functional engineering strategy.
  • Passionate about Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, CI/CD, automation, and site reliability.
  • Thrives in mentorship roles—guiding teams and uplifting technical practices.
  • Lead with a no-blame mentality and are deeply aligned with Canva's engineering and cultural values.
