About Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES)

Our mission is to provide fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. We encompass the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service.

Purpose of the role

The Volunteer Services unit is a volunteer-focused team with the specific purpose of sourcing and coordinating opportunities for best practice in recruitment and retention, financial support, and communications and engagement.

Key responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

- Developing comprehensive community outreach programs and initiatives.

- Managing stakeholder relationships and ensuring alignment with state and regional priorities.

- Planning and implementing integrated communication strategies.

- Supervising the production of social media content and internal and external publications.

- Preparing reports and submissions on communication and engagement issues.

Requirements

- A minimum of 5 years experience in communications or a related field.

- Strong knowledge of community engagement principles and practices.

- Ability to lead and manage a team.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
