About the Role

This position is part of an outreach team aiming to enhance the health and wellbeing of people who use alcohol and other drugs.

The Case Worker collaborates with team members to provide structured support, identify client needs and develop goal-directed care plans. The Case Worker makes referrals to other services, provides regular support to clients, works alongside other team members, and holds a caseload to offer short- to medium-term care to clients who meet specific criteria.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver harm reduction education, advocacy, referral, needles/syringes and other injecting and disposal equipment to clients to promote safer use and disposal through Outreach
  • Using safe strategies, work with intoxicated consumers and assess overdose risk
  • Provide secondary consultations to other cohealth staff as required and assist in developing strategies to effectively manage clients with complex needs
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Minimum Certificate IV (Alcohol and Other Drugs) and/or tertiary studies in Community Development, Social Work etc
  • Lived experience will be highly regarded
  • Sound knowledge of the health and social issues and service sector for people who use substances and sleep rough
  • A commitment to the principles of harm reduction and recovery
