About the Role

We are currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our global headquarters in Macquarie University on a permanent full-time basis. This role will be part of our Incubation Operations team, where you will contribute to the development of unique commercial offerings for start-up medical device companies like Epiminder.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting Design Authority decision-making and technical direction to create innovative and reliable medical devices
  • Documenting designs, processes, and decisions to ensure product manufacturability
  • Collaborating with manufacturing teams to ensure smooth product transitions from design to production
  • Ensuring devices meet safety and performance standards through rigorous testing and characterisation
  • Adhering to Cochlear and customer Quality Management Systems to meet regulatory requirements
About You

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in mechanical engineering or biomedical engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with materials for medical device applications (e.g., silicone, titanium, platinum, polymers)
  • Knowledge of CAD tools, drawings, and mechanical tolerance analyses
  • Strong skills in cross-functional systems thinking
  • Demonstrated capability with statistical methods (e.g., hypothesis testing, sample size estimation, DOE, GR&R)
