Bamara is seeking a dedicated Community Empowerment Specialist to join our team working on our DHUB and DLAP programs in Dubbo.

The Community Empowerment Specialist will play a crucial role in the success of our DHUB and DLAP Programs in Dubbo, facilitating workshops and supporting participants to achieve their career goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver educational sessions to school students in DHUB partner schools.
  • Maintain a respectful and trust-based relationship with community members, consult on the needs of Aboriginal youth, barriers to accessing support and issues negatively impacting on school attendance, retention and employment.
  • Incorporate local knowledge, protocols and practices into our activities.
  • Identify and promote opportunities for employment and career advancement.
  • Assist participants with training and employment activities that align with their Career Plan.
  • Support the practical elements of pre-employment activities including digital literacy, job applications, mock interviews, job search seminars, etc.
  • Respectfully identify and assist with facilitating solutions to barriers to full participation for individuals.
  • Assist participants to take learner's tests and other activities associated with gaining a driver's licence.
Requirements:

Must be able to pass Police Check and Working with Children check and have a full driver's licence and vehicle.
