GIS Expert Wanted

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated GIS expert to join our team. As a key member, you will work with established geospatial systems using spatial tools to provide support and advice on geographical information.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Data modelling, manipulation, visualisation and development of professional cartographic map products.
  • Providing accurate and timely spatial information using GIS that is appropriate to the needs of Council.
  • Undertaking business analysis activities such as consultation, process mapping, project management and documentation development.
  • Change management principles.

The ideal candidate will have tertiary qualifications in Geospatial Science or related fields and working knowledge of Land Ownership and Titles system. Proven experience of GIS software (QGIS, MapInfo and IntraMaps) and related programming including FME, ogr2ogr and GDAL is also essential.

Apart from technical skills, we are looking for someone who can show initiative and demonstrate an innovative approach in providing effective solutions to requests utilising spatial information. The ability to work in a team environment and positively contribute to the team is also crucial.

Key Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Geospatial Science or related fields.
  • Proven experience of GIS software (QGIS, MapInfo and IntraMaps).
  • Working knowledge of Land Ownership and Titles system.
  • Demonstrated experience in process documentation and creating data flow and modelling diagrams.
  • Ability to show initiative and have demonstrated an innovative approach in providing effective solutions to requests utilising spatial information.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and positively contribute to the team.
