Research Associate Role

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Program is seeking a Research Associate to contribute to meaningful and ethical research and advocacy for the health and wellbeing of First Nations peoples and communities.

This role involves providing consistent contributions to research activities, including report writing and manuscript preparation. The successful candidate will assist with Human Research Ethics Committee submissions, conduct research under limited supervision, and engage with Aboriginal communities, researchers, and Community Controlled Health Services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to research projects, developing reports and manuscripts that align with the program's mission and goals.
  • Support the development of future projects and grant applications, collaborating with stakeholders from Aboriginal communities, researchers, and Community Controlled Health Services.
  • Collaborate in building strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, understanding their needs and perspectives.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field, such as health or research.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and people.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and ability to work flexibly and effectively in small teams and with diverse stakeholders.

This position is an Identified Position for an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. Proof of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage and acceptance by the Aboriginal community are required.
