About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Compliance and Governance Expert Leader to join our team. As a key member of our Payroll Compliance Team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the university meets its payroll compliance requirements.

Salary

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary package, estimated at $130,000 - $145,000 per annum, plus 17% superannuation contributions and additional leave loading payments.

Job Description

As a Compliance and Governance Expert Leader, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the implementation of strategic and operational compliance processes across the university. You will lead a small team of payroll compliance specialists and engage with HR Systems and Salaries to identify and support best practice.

Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Leading the development and implementation of payroll compliance strategies and initiatives to ensure the university meets its obligations under applicable regulations and legislation.
  • Providing training and development to the wider Salaries team on agreed methodologies for resolving payroll discrepancies.
  • Conducting regular audits and assessments of payroll processes and procedures to identify potential compliance issues and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Building and maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of payroll compliance monitoring activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you will hold a relevant tertiary qualification and/or experience in a complex payroll role in a large organisation. You will have high knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements, as well as proficiency in using payroll systems and software.

You must also possess comprehensive analytical and problem-solving skills, proven capacity to exercise initiative, flexibility, and proactivity in developing solutions to problems. Additionally, you will need to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills, sound judgement, and the ability to exercise initiative, tact, and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.
