About the Role

The Company is seeking a highly skilled Governance Officer to join their team in Parramatta or the Sydney CBD office. As a key member of the Governance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective governance and compliance of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice on corporate governance issues, statutory requirements, and ethics to staff members.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to promote effective governance and ethical conduct.
  • Investigate internal reports and disclosures, including public interest matters, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Analyse governance data and prepare compliance reports to ensure the organisation is meeting its governance obligations.
  • Develop and maintain ethics, compliance, and risk management policies to ensure the organisation's risk profile is managed effectively.
  • Support the Audit and Risk Committee in their oversight of the organisation's risk management and internal audit processes.
  • Assist with other governance and compliance processes as required to ensure the organisation's governance framework is robust and effective.
Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, industry certifications, or equivalent experience in corporate governance, compliance, risk management, and investigations.
  • Minimum 12 months experience in a similar Governance Officer role with a focus on internal audit and ethics/compliance.
  • Previous experience within the public sector is highly desirable.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills to effectively engage with stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage secretariat and executive support activities.
