Merchandise Strategist

As a key member of the leadership team, you will play a critical role in driving merchandise strategy for a large retail group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategic merchandise plans to drive business growth and customer engagement.
  • Review and negotiate commercial strategies with suppliers to ensure alignment with brand promise and customer priorities.
  • Manage inventory, trading terms negotiation, and supplier relationships to achieve win-win outcomes.
  • Analyse store financial data and develop/implement action plans to deliver results.
  • Lead a high-performing team to deliver outstanding merchandise results across all channels.

Requirements:

  • Proven track record as a senior manager in a retail environment, leading teams and managing high-volume portfolios.
  • Strong commercial acumen, trading expertise, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to inspire confidence, drive change agendas, and develop others to reach their full potential.
  • Passion for spotting trends, negotiating unique deals, and creating points of difference.

What You Will Do in an Average Week:

Reporting in at CEO level, you will review, set, and execute strategic merchandise direction, ensuring delivery in line with the brand promise. This will involve reviewing commercial strategies, applying expert knowledge in forecasting, inventory management, and supplier development, and communicating expectations to create a culture of accountability.
