Lifestyle Content Opportunities

The Australian Financial Review is seeking a dynamic and experienced lifestyle journalist/editor to work with the Life & Leisure editor in commissioning, editing, and delivering compelling stories that captivate our audience both online and in print.

As the associate editor, you will play a crucial role in shaping our lifestyle content, ensuring high-quality output weekly.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with the editor to commission and edit lifestyle content, ensuring high-quality output.
  2. Develop innovative ways to engage readers.
  3. Improve and edit articles and undertake writing assignments.
  4. Maximise digital content presentation, including SEO and effective headlines.
  5. Maintain high editorial standards and manage multiple deadlines.
  6. Work with digital and visual teams to enhance storytelling.
  7. Coordinate with designers and photographers to enrich content.
  8. Partner with the commercial team to explore advertising opportunities while preserving editorial integrity.
  9. Cultivate relationships in lifestyle sectors for story development.

Qualifications:

  1. Proven lifestyle writing and editing experience with a strong portfolio.
  2. Excellent writing, commissioning, editing, and communication skills.
  3. Strong organisational abilities for managing multiple projects and production processes.
  4. Knowledge across Life & Leisure's subject areas.
  5. Collaborative mindset, attention to detail and accuracy.
  6. Experience working with digital formats is advantageous.
  7. Familiarity with content management systems and design tools like InDesign is a plus.
