Job Title: Ocean Conservation Specialist

This position is an opportunity to contribute to a cutting-edge research project focused on the management of rivers discharging into the ocean. The Management of Rivers Discharging into Ocean Realms (MORDOR) program aims to identify and propose conservation responses to pollutants flowing from rivers to catalyze conservation actions for the Indian Ocean.

As an Ocean Conservation Specialist, you will be part of a team working to address complex environmental challenges and deliver real-world solutions. You will have the opportunity to work with experts and governments from countries around the Indian Ocean, assemble data on pollutants, and assess options for priority actions to reduce pollution.

The role involves organizing workshops in the region to discuss results with researchers and decision makers, as well as meeting with stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing. You will also have the opportunity to develop your skills in research design, data analysis, and communication of complex scientific information to non-technical audiences.

This project is a collaboration among Prof. Jamie Pittock at the Fenner School of Environment and Society and Dr Jennie Mallela at the Research School of Biology, and other experts. As an Ocean Conservation Specialist, you will be working towards a common goal of improving water quality and ecosystem health in the Indian Ocean.

The ideal candidate will have strong research and analytical skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and experience working in a team environment. A degree in a relevant field such as environmental science, ecology, or biology is essential, as well as a strong understanding of the principles of conservation and sustainable development.

Working Conditions:
