The National Library of Australia is seeking to fill the position of **Program Manager Preventive Conservation (APS Level 6)**, as part of the Collection Care Team in the Collection Branch in an ongoing role.

This role is required to undertake work that is complex in nature and be able to work under limited direction. This will include:

- Providing advice and assistance to ensure that the library collection is protected in ways that are sustainable and practical, while,
- Honouring the Library's commitment to making collections accessible.

This role will be responsible for providing specialist preventive conservation advice and guidance to the Library's major building infrastructure projects and priorities including the building and storage masterplans. You will have people, program, and stakeholder management responsibilities, working closely with the Library's Capital Works and Facilities and Security teams.

This new position will augment the existing preventive conservation function and will work alongside our Program Manager, Preventive Conservation who has a focus on Library operations.

To be considered for this position, you will have demonstrated experience overseeing the preservation and care of heritage collections in a building undergoing extensive building work.

Given the nature of these activities, the role must be conducted on-site. As a result, permanent or long-term working from home arrangements are not available. Other ways of working flexibly including part-time hours can be considered.

A merit pool may be established from this recruitment activity which may be used to fill similar vacancies at the Library.
