About the Role

As a Senior Farm Business Economist at Dairy Australia, you will play a key role in leading our key farm business economics initiatives. Your analytical and interpretative capabilities will contribute to the improvement of the industry's knowledge and understanding of farm business economics in Australia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Dairy Farm Monitor Project across all dairy regions, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of results.
  • Oversee DairyBase, the industry's database for farm physical, financial, and carbon emissions data, ensuring its accuracy and relevance.
  • Represent Australia in the International Farm Comparison Network (IFCN), promoting Australian dairy industry interests and best practices.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders, including farmers, industry partners, and government agencies.
  • Develop and implement projects aligned with Dairy Australia's strategic aims, considering innovative ways to drive change and improvement in the industry.

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualification in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Business, Agricultural Science/Commerce, or a related field, preferably at a post-graduate level.
  • Strong understanding of economic principles and risk management products relevant to the agricultural sector.
  • Excellent analytical and interpretative skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
