
Legislative Support Professional

The City of Canterbury Bankstown is one of the largest councils in NSW with diverse communities, delivering 28 key services to over 380,000 residents.
This role provides the opportunity to assist with a variety of legal matters, including instructing and collaborating with external legal service providers, and supporting the council in proceedings before courts and tribunals.
- Support the provision of legal advice and services across the organisation on areas of law, including property, commercial, planning, environment and civil matters.
- Assist the legal team in managing litigation across courts and tribunals.
- Maintain accurate records and update the council's legal systems.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, external stakeholders, external legal providers and consultants.
- Conduct legal research, prepare case notes and draft advice, briefs and court documents.
- Ensure compliance with council processes, procedures and relevant legislation.
You will have a Bachelor of Laws (or equivalent) and a current NSW Practicing Certificate.
Desirable skills include local government knowledge, strong organisational and communication skills, experience in problem-solving and decision-making, ability to instruct external legal providers, advocacy or court experience, and a NSW Driver's Licence.
