Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Water Resources Engineer to join our Sydney Civil & Water Resources Team at GHD. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading water resources assessments, integrating water balance, water quality, flooding, and drainage aspects for traditional energy and resources projects and emerging asset transition applications.

About the Role

  • Lead water resources assessments, including water balance, water quality, flooding, and drainage aspects for traditional energy and resources projects and emerging asset transition applications.
  • Work with a team of leading practitioners in the NSW industry to provide creative solutions to fit the needs of our clients and communities.
  • Support the management of a variety of multidisciplinary projects, including infrastructure projects across Australia.
  • Coordinate and review hydrology and hydraulic modeling to inform planning studies through to detailed design of new infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement effective project management strategies to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and develop tailored solutions to meet their requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of business development opportunities and help to grow the company's client portfolio.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments, and apply this knowledge to improve project delivery and client satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of environmental issues related to the management of surface water, particularly for energy and resource clients.
  • Ability to scope and carry out required assessments in accordance with NSW requirements.
  • Advanced analytical and spreadsheet abilities, with intermediate GIS capability preferred.
  • Candidates with site or construction-based experience looking to apply practical knowledge to complex assessments and design are encouraged.
  • Appreciation for CAD (e.g., 12D, Civil3D, AutoCAD) is vital for coordination of design and drafting team members.
  • Demonstrated professional judgment and commercial acumen, including identifying, assessing, evaluating, and solving problems to brief and budget.
  • Business and relationship development attitude to enhance client portfolio and project delivery.
  • Robust written and verbal skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues concisely.
  • Interest in coaching and mentoring to technically strengthen team capabilities.
  • Project management skills of water resources projects, including preparation and review of fee proposals, management of resources, budget, risks, and health and safety.
  • Bachelor of Civil and/or Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
