About the Role

SA Water is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Water Management Specialist to lead the development and delivery of integrated water management strategies across South Australia. This role will involve managing collaborative decision-making processes with internal and external partners, translating strategic insights into actionable plans, and guiding the sector towards an aligned, collective direction.

About the Person

We are looking for a strategic thinker with expertise in strategy and planning, as well as managing complex relationships. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of South Australia's water sector, water resource management, and strategic planning. They will be able to lead consultation programs, build strong stakeholder relationships, and drive high-performing teams to deliver collaborative and integrated outcomes.

About the Science and Strategy Group

The Science and Strategy group employs scientific approaches to address present and upcoming challenges in the water sector. They execute a strategy driven by customer preferences to elevate the SA Water brand and position us for future success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of integrated water management strategies for South Australia.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, leading consultation programs and ensuring collaborative decision-making across internal teams and external partners.
  • Oversee monitoring and evaluation programs for strategy implementation, ensuring region-specific approaches and providing annual updates to stakeholders.
  • Support the creation of strategic frameworks and pathways for water security, integrating input from communities, Traditional Owners, and key partners.
Requirements
  • Relevant qualifications in strategy, science, engineering, or related fields with knowledge of technical, regulatory, and policy requirements.
  • Strong understanding of South Australia's water sector, water resource management, and strategic planning.
  • Proven strategic, analytical, and organisational skills to manage complex issues across multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence outcomes and engage senior leaders.
  • Ability to make strategic recommendations based on data analysis and research.
