Senior Manufacturing Technician Job Summary

This role is ideal for experienced manufacturing technicians with a strong understanding of silicone and myoelectrics manufacturing.

The successful applicant will be working in a state-of-the-art workshop within a team of technicians.

  • Key responsibilities include manufacturing, repairing, and maintaining artificial limbs, carbon fibre and silicone orthotic devices and myoelectric prostheses according to prescription specifications.
  • Daily tasks involve using hand tools, power tools, autoclaves and industrial ovens, CNC routers, 3D printers, pre-preg carbon fibre, wet carbon fibre lamination, thermoplastic, ultrasonic welding machines and specialised silicone rollers.
  • Working materials include carbon fibre, silicone, plastic, plaster, various metals, epoxy resins and foams.
  • Designing, ordering, manufacturing and fitting myoelectric prosthetic devices to clients and training them in their use is also a key responsibility.
  • Communicating with clinical and technical staff on matters of design, logistics and best practice to ensure jobs are manufactured to the highest standard of quality and in a timely manner is essential.

Additional responsibilities include working safely and respectfully, following OHS regulations and house rules, ensuring the safety of yourself and those around you at all times while upholding the standard of trust and professionalism established in this role.

Requirements for the Senior Manufacturing Technician Role

To be considered for this role, applicants must possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • A minimum Diploma level or higher qualification in a relevant field such as Orthotics, Prosthetics or Occupational therapy.
  • A minimum five years' experience as a manufacturing technician in the same or a similar role.
  • Previous documented experience of silicone and myoelectrics manufacturing.
  • A current national criminal history check, or willingness to obtain.

The salary for this position is $82,000 p.a. with attractive bonuses available if professional goals and KPIs are achieved.
