Environmental Sustainability Lead

We are seeking a dedicated professional to lead our environmentally sustainable development initiatives.

About the Role:

  • This is a temporary full-time position that leads our environmentally sustainable design and planning practice for both private developments and council's assets within the municipality.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide expert advice on environmentally sustainable design and planning practices to foster a collaborative and empowered culture across the organisation.
  2. Build capacity internally to the statutory business unit and assist developers and planning permit applicants to use ESD assessment tools to ensure best practice.
  3. Ensure up-to-date sustainable design requirements for council and community developments.
  4. Maintain and develop partnerships and networks across the sector.
  5. Support us to meet climate mitigation and resilience goals through ESD policy, practice, and actions.
  6. Build the capacity of staff on ESD best practice through training, advice, and process development.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary experience in Environmental Engineering, Sustainable Design, Planning, Architecture, or similar discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in planning, environment, sustainability, and urban design.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in current built environment rating tools and software.
  • A current Working with Children Check.
