This role is a vital part of the Therapeutic Services team, providing specialist clinical support and advocacy services to victim-survivors of sexual assault.
Counsellors work with adults, young people, and children who have been impacted by sexual assault and violence. They provide trauma-informed counselling and may participate in outreach services and educational program delivery.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with crisis intervention, including prioritising and managing crisis situations. They will also demonstrate a commitment to inclusive practice, meeting the diverse needs of clients. A strong ability to acquire knowledge of Tasmanian legislation and policies is essential.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide specialist clinical support and advocacy services to victim-survivors of sexual assault
- Work with adults, young people, and children who have been impacted by sexual assault and violence
- Participate in outreach services and educational program delivery
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in counselling, social work, psychology, or equivalent qualification
- Demonstrated knowledge of the impacts and dynamics of sexual assault
- Experience working with crisis intervention, including prioritising and managing crisis situations
- A commitment to inclusive practice and meeting the diverse needs of clients
- Ability to quickly acquire a working knowledge of Tasmanian legislation and policies pertaining to sexual assault, child protection, and family violence
