About the Role

The Deputy CEO will play a critical role in supporting the CEO in managing the day-to-day operations of Aboriginal Housing Northern Territory (AHNT) and driving the achievement of the organization's strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent AHNT in various forums and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders, including land councils, NT and Australian governments, and Aboriginal-controlled organizations.
  • Manage contracts, staff, and recruitment, and prepare funding applications and reports to ensure the organization's financial sustainability and growth.
  • Provide strategic advice to the CEO, board, and member organizations on reforms and emerging issues affecting the Aboriginal-controlled sector.
  • Support the CEO in leading reforms to strengthen the sector across homelands, remote communities, and town camps.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and staff to build organizational capability and work towards the objectives outlined in the Strategic Plan 2024–27.
Requirements
  • Well-developed strategic, conceptual, and analytical skills, including the ability to read local and national political landscapes and take calculated risks.
  • Exceptional collaborative and influential skills, with a demonstrated ability to establish and sustain productive working relationships with staff and external stakeholders.
  • Sound financial and organizational skills, including prioritization, risk management, budgeting, recordkeeping, accounting, and reporting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to motivate and support people to achieve high-quality outcomes in a complex, high-pressure environment.
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills for different contexts, including grant applications, media, and strategic alliances.
