Job Title: Community Engagement Specialist
About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to Australia's Census process. As a Remote Census Engagement Manager, you will be responsible for connecting with stakeholders and community members in regional and remote areas.
Your key responsibilities will include developing and implementing engagement plans, maintaining stakeholder management systems, and undertaking promotional activities to encourage participation in the Census.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver Census engagement activities for assigned regions.
- Maintain accurate records of engagement activities via the ABS Stakeholder Management System.
- Develop, update, and review engagement plans for your area of responsibility.
- Promote participation in the Census through community visits, presentations, and other outreach efforts.
- Establish and maintain relationships with community leaders, local government officials, and key service providers.
- Collaborate with other Census and ABS staff to provide valuable insights and cultural considerations.
- Gather support for the Census from local communities and organizations.
- Provide assistance with Census operational activities as needed.
- Maintain a safe working environment, including when working remotely or in remote areas.
- Complete administrative tasks such as timesheets and other duties as directed.
- Store Census materials securely.
- Provide regular updates to the Remote Operations Management team.
- Demonstrated experience or knowledge working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Ability to connect and engage with diverse stakeholders, communicate effectively, and build strong working relationships.
- Strong communication skills to present information to various audiences.
- Capability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and make decisions with minimal guidance.
- Sound local area knowledge and ability to navigate maps.
The Assistant Engagement Manager will provide support to the Census Engagement Manager and undertake a combination of procedural, engagement, and administrative duties.
