This role requires a deep understanding of electrical systems, with a focus on primary systems within Battery Energy Storage projects.

You will be the go-to technical expert, responsible for designing and implementing electrical balance of plant systems, reviewing specifications, solving design challenges, and ensuring compliance with technical standards.

Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with teams across Australia, the US, Japan, and Europe to deliver projects that meet the highest standards worldwide.

Responsibilities include leading design reviews, developing technical specifications, formulating condition monitoring strategies, and providing technical input for project feasibility. You will also participate in Factory and Site Acceptance Tests (FAT & SAT) as required.

A strong background in High Voltage Equipment Knowledge, Primary Substation Design, Electrical System Modelling & Analysis, Protection & Coordination, and Earthing and Lightning Protection is essential for success in this role.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • High Voltage Equipment Knowledge: Design and operation of transformers, circuit breakers, cables, disconnectors/earth switches, surge arresters.
  • Primary Substation Design: Layout for Air-Insulated Switchgear (AIS) and Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) substations.
  • Electrical System Modelling & Analysis: Experience with short-circuit analysis, load flow studies, insulation coordination, arc flash, and electromagnetic field (EMF) studies.
  • Protection & Coordination: Implementation of protection schemes and secondary systems interface.
  • Earthing and Lightning Protection: Conducting risk assessments and designing comprehensive protection systems.
