Data Center IT Support Specialist

This is a Data Center IT Support Engineer role with Amazon (AWS) in Sydney, where you'll work on the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. You'll be part of a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. Your key responsibilities will include installing and configuring racks of hosts, diagnosing and repairing issues for server, storage, and network devices, and participating in Data Center power & cooling events. You'll also be required to work a shift schedule, including night shifts on a rotational basis, and have a valid driver's license and own vehicle to travel between sites. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience, 1+ years of computer networking experience, and a high school or equivalent diploma. Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure is also preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and configure racks of hosts in line with internal SLAs
  • Diagnose and repair issues for server, storage, and network devices, including the physical replacement of parts
  • Remediation or recovery of physical power issues on racks and participate in Data Center power & cooling events
  • Shift work (4 days on and 4 days off including night shifts on a rotational basis)
  • This position also has a physical component requiring the ability to lift & rack equipment using our lifting equipment
  • Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and their own vehicle to travel between sites

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience
  • 1+ years of computer networking experience
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
