Practical Class Coordinator Role

This role offers an opportunity to inspire undergraduate students' curiosity and interest in the Biological Sciences through the delivery of innovative practical classes.

The successful candidate will have the chance to contribute creatively to the design and implementation of laboratory experiences, fostering a collaborative learning environment that supports students' intellectual development.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Curriculum Development: Collaborate with academic staff to design and develop new experiments and activities for biology practical courses.
  2. Team Management: Supervise and mentor a team of Laboratory Technicians, providing training and support to ensure high-quality laboratory experiences.
  3. Laboratory Operations: Manage laboratory resources, equipment maintenance, and safety protocols to ensure a safe and efficient learning environment.
  4. Administrative Support: Provide administrative support for first-year biology subjects, including communication management and Learning Management System updates.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Enthusiastic and experienced laboratory professional with a passion for inspiring students and delivering high-quality practical classes in the Biological Sciences.
  • Tertiary qualification in science, majoring in Botany, Ecology, Genetics, Zoology, or other biological sciences.
  • Experience in a technical laboratory role and managing a technical team in a complex environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, developing and maintaining constructive working relationships across diverse groups.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex biological and technical problems efficiently.
  • Good technical writing skills and ability to provide administrative support.
