Energy Policy Expertise

We are seeking an experienced economist to contribute to a decarbonising, affordable and reliable energy system for consumers.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and be able to apply microeconomics and econometrics to real-world energy policy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide economic advice and recommendations to ensure high-quality economic analysis and reasoning in policy development and project decision-making;
  • Apply analytical frameworks, build models, and conduct econometric analysis using advanced economic concepts and analyses to draw robust insights;
  • Contribute to thought leadership on current developments and emerging trends in the energy sector;
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer and promote a better understanding of how economic concepts relate to the operation of the energy market;
  • Communicate complex issues or concepts in a way that is accessible to a wide range of stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in economics, commerce and/or other relevant disciplines;
  • A background in microeconomics and/or econometrics would be an advantage;
  • A minimum of 2-5 years relevant work experience in a policy, research and/or regulatory role involving the application of economic concepts and analysis to decision-making processes;
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain economic concepts to stakeholders and non-technical audiences;
  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to build effective partnerships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
