Job Title: Senior Media and Public Affairs Officer

The role involves managing media and external communications strategies, working closely with a talented team on media strategy, campaigns, and proactive content.

This position requires effective collaboration with internal stakeholders to support organisational change and key initiatives.

  • Develop and implement media management, corporate communication, public affairs, and marketing strategies on behalf of regions, commands, and divisions.
  • Oversee the production of news releases, multi-media news content, social media content, speaking points, and materials for external communications.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Media Operations team, providing specialist guidance to team members and overseeing delivery of high-quality services.
  • Prepare and deliver media awareness training sessions as required.
  • Provide specialist advice on media, public affairs, and marketing issues.
  • Identify opportunities for proactive media, marketing, and promotional activities.
  • Prepare complex news releases, talking points, speech notes, and briefing material for executives or the Minister.

The ideal candidate will have formal qualifications in journalism and public affairs, along with experience in journalism and public affairs.

The successful applicant will be responsible for leading the development of innovative media strategies, collaborating with stakeholders, and delivering high-quality outcomes. They will also provide expert advice on media and public affairs matters, and contribute to the success of our organisation through their skills and expertise.

We are seeking an experienced professional who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment, think strategically, and make informed decisions quickly. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, able to build relationships with stakeholders, and demonstrate a commitment to excellence in all aspects of their work.
