About the Role

The Australian Government Department of Defence is seeking experienced engineers to join its dynamic and vibrant Defence project team in the Maritime Explosive Ordnance System Program Office (MEOSPO) as APS 6 Engineering Professionals.

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for skilled engineers with a passion for explosive ordnance, mechanical, chemical or electrical engineering to work on high-profile acquisitions and sustainment activities supporting the Australian Defence Force.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Investigating, analysing and reporting on engineering concepts and risks;
  • Managing the configuration of guided weapons and explosive ordnance items;
  • Planning and delivering critical engineering activities;
  • Providing advice to stakeholders;
  • Mentoring junior members; and
  • Enabling good inventory decisions with quality and timely engineering advice.
About Our Team

Our team is comprised of various disciplines, including engineering, project management, commercial, logistics, and corporate enabling services. We are located in Canberra, Penrith, Amberley, Melbourne and HMAS Stirling, and our focus is to acquire and sustain guided weapons and munitions for the Australian Defence Force.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Demonstrated experience as a productive and collaborative team member delivering high-quality engineering activities;
  • A background in explosive ordnance, mechanical, chemical or electrical engineering;
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • The ability to analyse, interpret and apply engineering guidance, policy and regulations;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and develop ideas through analysis of alternative courses of action.
