Job Opportunity: QC Welding Inspector/Safety Leader

Ensuring top-notch safety and quality in structural welding is a key responsibility of this role.

As a trusted leader, you will oversee the fabrication process, ensuring that all work meets or exceeds client specifications. Your expertise will be crucial in developing and implementing effective inspection plans to guarantee high-quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing comprehensive work packages for maintenance and projects.
  • Creating and managing inspection and test plans (ITPs), check sheets, and welding documents.
  • Selecting and submitting weld procedure specs for client approval.
  • Resolving welding issues during execution.
  • Coordinating non-destructive testing, post-weld heat treatment, and industrial painting.
  • Maintaining contract-required quality documentation.
  • Addressing client welding queries.
  • Training and coaching staff on quality control and assurance.
  • Implementing and monitoring the Ventia Welding Management System.
  • Conducting welder qualification tests.
  • Providing advice on fabrication methods per client specs and standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Relevant Mechanical Trade or tertiary qualifications, Cert III or higher.
  • Weld Australia International Institute Welding Inspector - Basic Qualifications or similar.
  • AS 2214 (Structural) - acceptable
  • Weld Australia Welding Supervisor AS1796 Certificate 10 or higher - (desired)
  • Experience with Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, and Aluminium materials.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Welding Supervisory or Leadership role.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting fabrication drawings.
  • Strong management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Highly motivated with good written, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Ability to work flexibly and adaptively in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders.
