We are seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our team.

About the Role

This position is a blend of two roles, designed to improve capacity to respond to alcohol and other drug presentations in the emergency department. The main objectives are:

  • To extend the provision of specialist AOD coverage in ED & DoAM Consultation and Liaison clients located throughout the hospital.
  • To improve linkages across departments involved in providing services to clients with AOD issues.
  • Implementation of the AOD screening tool in ED.
  • To facilitate referrals to appropriate community based services.
  • Provide AOD education and training within the emergency department.
  • In addition, the position will coordinate the access to and follow-up for clients being considered for or receiving care under Severe Substance Dependent Treatment Act (SSDTA).

The classifications for this position will range from NO1 - NO2.

Your Contribution

A qualification in or equivalent is required:

  • Nurse Practitioner – APHRA endorsed and registration which meets the registration requirements of the Nurses Board of Victoria in Division 1 or 3. A minimum of 5 years clinical experience – preferably in the AOD or related sector.
  • Experience in Addiction Medicine and/or related fields.
  • Working knowledge of the SSDTA and the Victorian AOD service sector.
  • Work closely with the Access and Engagement Coordinator at Depaul House, Residential Withdrawal unit, to ensure that SSDTA clients are supported and managed optimally during their residential withdrawal stay.
  • Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain.
