Community Engagement Specialist
Yarra City Council is seeking a Community Engagement Specialist to support its work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and communities connected to Yarra.
This role plays an important part in promoting cultural heritage, community wellbeing, and Aboriginal self-determination.
You'll be part of the Equity and Community Development Branch within the Community Strengthening Division – a values-driven team committed to equity and social justice.
- Making a meaningful impact by supporting Aboriginal self-determination and inclusion;
- Working in a supportive and committed team focused on equity and social justice;
- Helping to support respectful partnerships and inclusive programs that celebrate culture and community.
- Develop and implement initiatives that acknowledge the perspectives, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples;
- Contribute to Council's NAIDOC and Reconciliation Week activities and facilitate community participation;
- Work closely with the Principal Advisor Aboriginal Partnerships and others across Council to ensure initiatives are meaningful and well-coordinated;
