Support Worker Job Description

Care for and support people with disabilities in their homes, residential settings, clinics, and hospitals. Provide companionship, emotional support, and promote independence and community participation.

A day in this role may involve:

  • In-home support with health issues and daily living tasks such as washing, dressing, eating, transport, and budgeting
  • Assisting clients during domestic activities like eating meals and showering
  • Providing companionship and support during daily activities
  • Cooking and serving meals, cleaning premises, washing, ironing, and performing other household tasks
  • Assisting with medication management

We are seeking a patient, flexible, and understanding individual with a supportive and caring nature. Ideally, you will have experience in the disability or healthcare sectors and possess:

  • Experience supporting people with disabilities
  • Commitment to the rights of people with disabilities to live dignified lives
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to accept responsibility
  • Able to work as part of a team, cope with physical demands, and perform domestic duties efficiently
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent
