Child Welfare Specialist
The role of a Child Welfare Specialist requires a strong sense of social justice and an understanding of complex family dynamics. The successful candidate will have the ability to collaborate with colleagues to strengthen case practice, provide effective service delivery, and support other practitioners in developing plans to ensure the safety, stability, and development of children and young people.
Key Responsibilities:- Risk assessment and analysis: further develops and coaches others in their understanding of risk assessment and analysis.
- Case planning review and case management: provides case planning advice, guidance, and support to others; directly supports and inputs into cases where there is unacceptable risk to the child.
- Critical inquiry: leads planning, review, and management of issues in line with best practice principles and legislative requirements.
The ideal candidate will possess supervisory responsibilities, including the ability to support and develop others in practice. They will also require a valid driver's license and be willing to travel, including in regional areas. Understanding of Aboriginal culture and the Aboriginal Child Placement Principle in child protection practice is essential.
