Child Protection and Family Welfare Professional

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Child Protection Practitioner to join our team in Melbourne. As a key member of our department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children and families.

The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving and assessing reports of alleged abuse and neglect, undertaking investigations, and developing plans to bring about positive change for children and families.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Critical Assessment and Reflection
    • Risk assessment and analysis: Identify and plan for risks related to each situation, applying a strong forensic lens and professional judgment.
    • Case planning review and case management: Formulate effective case plans, review progress, and co-coordinate with other agencies and services.
    • Critical enquiry: Investigate issues using evidence-based frameworks and understand root causes.
    • Standardised reporting: Use standardised frameworks for recording case data and documenting care solutions.
    • Reflective practice: Critically reflect on your role and influence your practice accordingly.
  • Engaging Others
    • Child-centred and family-focused relationship-based practice: Deliver timely and proactive solutions by focusing on the child and incorporating the family and social network.
    • Collaboration: Engage, consult, and co-design solutions with children, families, practitioners, teams, agencies, services, and the community.
    • Knowledge sharing: Exchange critical information across the system to ensure shared understanding and timely action.
  • Delivering Results
    • Problem solving: Integrate knowledge and internal insight with leading practice and research to address problems.
    • Culturally informed practice and safety: Understand and apply culturally informed practice that considers situations, activities, decisions, and outcomes from the perspective of each stakeholder's cultural background.
    • Business operations: Effectively use business technology, systems, procedures, and financial nous to achieve the best outcome for clients.
    • Evaluating and delivering program improvements: Work with colleagues and stakeholders to evaluate programs, identify opportunities, develop solutions, and overcome barriers.
    • Packaging of support: Plan for purchasing services, manage budgets, and allocate finances to achieve the best outcome.
