About Uniforms and Logistics

The Uniforms and Logistics unit within the Queensland Fire Department is responsible for providing uniforms, personal protective equipment (PPE), and operational equipment to all services and streams of the department. This includes Category Management teams that manage the planning, consultation, development, introduction, and life cycle of uniforms, PPE, and operational equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain governance and controls for the effective administration of the QFD uniforms and logistics program to ensure compliance with government procurement, contracts, and financial management practices.
  • Contribute to the development of compelling category plans and delivery of corresponding projects and initiatives to ensure project deliverables and timeframes meet the QFD's service, value, community, safety, risk, quality, and governance objectives.
  • Undertake research, analysis, and reporting on information relevant to allocated projects and identify issues or opportunities for improvements in processes and service delivery.
  • Interpret and apply legislation, standards, and instructions relating to uniforms, PPE, and operational equipment and provide advice to enable effective decision making.
  • Lead sourcing initiatives including research and development of specifications, tendering documents, evaluation, and implementation to ensure the workforce is appropriately equipped.
  • Undertake negotiations and manage supplier contractual performance including the development of contract management plans, regular monitoring, and reporting of supplier performance and contract effectiveness.
  • Prepare and review complex reports, briefs, submissions, and other correspondence on related issues and initiatives, in accordance with departmental requirements.
  • Develop and maintain professional and effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to support program activities and promote positive outcomes and ensure business objectives are achieved.

Requirements

  • Highly desirable requirements include knowledge and/or experience in project management methodologies, contract management principles, and supply chain management concepts.
  • End-to-end category management skills including knowledge of specification development, product implementation, and continuous improvement during the life cycle of products.
  • Confidence in use of Microsoft Suite, including Excel, planning/analytics, and written and verbal communication.
