Economic Reintegration Manager

The Australian Government's Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme is a flagship initiative enabling workers from 9 Pacific Island Countries and Timor-Leste to work in priority sectors in Australia.

As an Economic Reintegration Manager, you will support activities in Australia, the Pacific, and Timor-Leste to facilitate the successful economic reintegration of returning PALM workers.

This includes designing, planning, coordinating, managing, facilitating, and delivering reintegration support to partner countries, Pacific workers, and Approved Employers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build strategic relationships with Pacific and Timorese businesses, government agencies, and stakeholders to understand how economic reintegration activities can be delivered.
  • Contribute to implementing economic reintegration activities for PALM workers and their families.
  • Work with reintegration officers in Labour Sending Units (LSU) to better understand and support the reintegration efforts of each sending country.
  • Design, procure, and deliver economic reintegration-specific activities at a country level, aligned with country engagement strategies.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure that economic activities consider social impacts and mitigate associated risks.
  • Establish relationships with other stakeholders to support economic reintegration efforts.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Strong understanding of labour mobility, particularly worker economic reintegration issues in the Pacific region.
  • Understanding of market systems development and facilitation of sustainable economic opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to build respectful, productive, and sustainable working relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to prepare accessible written reports and present findings to diverse stakeholders.
