About the Role

The Senior Commercialization Director will provide full lifecycle research commercialization leadership to the Global Research Centre, identifying and pursuing strategic partnerships and commercialization avenues for the Centre's newly developed research and IP assets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and drive business development strategy in collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Identify opportunities for growth, collaboration, and commercial partnership between researchers and external partners
  • Negotiate and close transactions to the mutual benefit of stakeholders and within the mission of the Global Research Centre

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in research commercialization, with expertise in leading and negotiating major life science deals, particularly in industry partnerships, contracts, licensing, start-ups, and spinouts. They will have a deep understanding of drug development pathways and sector knowledge, as well as a network of industry contacts and experience securing funding for research translation and commercialization.

The Global Research Centre is a newly created, mission-driven research centre focused on enabling rapid design and development of therapeutics for future pandemics. The Centre is part of the University of Melbourne and is supported by the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity.
