Urban Planning Assistant

You will be working within a fast-paced planning team contributing to the delivery of residential projects. You will be part of a collaborative environment on a variety of projects across regional NSW.

Your daily duties would include:

  • Interpreting relevant local and state government planning strategies, policies, directions, and legislation to ensure compliance with project objectives.
  • Reviewing building design documentation, drawings, and reports to ensure acceptable development is being proposed.
  • Coordinating fee proposals and supporting technical advice for various developments and their approval pathways.
  • Preparing statements of environmental effects and coordinating supporting documentation and reports relating to proposed development.
  • Undertaking desktop site analysis and research in relation to relevant town planning provisions, development opportunities and constraints.
  • Providing technical support and assistance to stakeholders as required.

**Required Skills and Qualifications:**

  • Degree qualifications in a planning-related area or other suitable planning qualifications.
  • Unrestricted Australian working rights.
  • Current Australian Driver's License.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings diagrams.
  • Understanding of NSW planning codes, Australian Standards, and the NCC.
  • Understanding of Architectural and building terminology.
  • Proficient oral/written communication skills including the ability to write complex and/or technical reports in plain English.

This role requires direct interaction with business stakeholders, consultants, and councils throughout the entire development process from concept to completion of works.

The position is based at Newcastle or Sydney and may require travel to various sites as required.
