Geologist Position

We are seeking a skilled Geologist to undertake geological desk studies, scope and manage geotechnical investigations, assess soil and rock slope stability, perform rock mapping and kinematic analyses, and quality check logs and factual reports.

About the Role

  • The successful candidate will have a good understanding of ANZ industry and technical standards, minimum 2-3 years relevant experience, broad engineering geology and geohazards competency, working knowledge of geotechnical engineering, ground conditions, drilling, and site investigation works.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct geological desk studies for small to large projects, including assessing geological information and producing reports.
  2. Scope, manage and supervise geotechnical investigations, including logging, sampling, in situ testing, and laboratory test schedules.
  3. Assess soil and rock slope stability, using various methods such as geological mapping and analysis.
  4. Perform rock mapping and kinematic analyses, to determine the mechanical properties of rocks.
  5. Quality check logs and factual reports generated by others, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Good understanding of ANZ industry and technical standards.
  • Minimum 2-3 years relevant experience in geology or a related field.
  • Broad engineering geology and geohazards competency.
  • Working knowledge of geotechnical engineering, ground conditions, drilling, and site investigation works.
  • Solid IT skills, including 2-D/3-D geological modelling, Microsoft Office, and database maintenance.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills.
