Regulatory Legal Team

The Regulatory Legal team is responsible for providing legal support to investigations, inspections and other regulatory activity conducted under the WHS Act. They assist with the conduct of prosecutions commenced under that Act.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing legal support to investigations and inspections.
  • Assisting with the conduct of prosecutions.
  • Mentoring, supporting and supervising junior team members.
Qualifications and Experience:

Mandatory qualifications include admission as a legal practitioner of the High Court or the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory, with five years or more post-admission experience desirable. A current restricted practising certificate or ability to obtain one within three months is also required. Experience in providing investigation support and conducting prosecutions in a criminal law or regulatory environment will be highly regarded.

Eligibility and Specific Conditions of Employment:
  • Character clearance (Australian Criminal History Check).
  • Employee Health Declaration.
  • Six months probationary period for new engagements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 Security Clearance.
