Job Title: Senior Governance Lawyer

The Legal Services team provides high-quality legal advice and assurance services to support the National Data Commissioner in exercising their regulatory functions under the DATA Scheme.

We are seeking lawyers with skills and experience relevant to administrative and public law, data and information law, and/or commercial law. The successful candidate will have:

  • A termination degree in Law from an Australian tertiary institution.
  • Admission as a legal practitioner of the High Court or the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory.
  • A Practicing Certificate.

The senior governance lawyer will work collaboratively with internal clients, other legal, policy and operational functions in Finance, and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing high-quality legal advice and assurance services to support the National Data Commissioner in exercising their regulatory functions under the DATA Scheme.
  • Working collaboratively with internal clients, other legal, policy and operational functions in Finance, and external stakeholders.
  • Developing and maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Termination degree in Law from an Australian tertiary institution.
  • Admission as a legal practitioner of the High Court or the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory.
  • A Practicing Certificate.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
