Job Title

An environmental specialist will be responsible for overseeing environmental compliance during the construction phase of energy projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction gained through field experience and excellent communication skills.

  • This is a temporary, field-based position that requires a high level of physical fitness and ability to work in all weather conditions.
About the Role

This position involves conducting environmental training for construction personnel, conducting field inspections and monitoring, interacting with agency officials and clients, reviewing project documents, and providing technical leadership.

The successful candidate will be able to critically assess environmental conditions in the field, evaluate potential environmental impacts from construction, and oversee the proper implementation of mitigation measures.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • A BS or BA degree preferred, equivalent environmental inspection or monitoring experience, or a minimum of 6 years of relevant construction experience;
  • 4+ years of environmental inspection, monitoring, or permitting experience specific to linear and/or other energy infrastructure projects;
  • An understanding of construction gained through field experience;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills;
  • Proficient technical skills, including experience using Microsoft Office programs and digital cameras;
  • Knowledge of environmental sampling methods;
  • The ability to travel extensively and to work 40 to 70+ hours per week in a physically demanding position on temporary assignments.
