Job Overview

The primary role of a Rail Equipment Technician is to ensure the maintenance and upkeep of rail vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Maintain and repair rail equipment, including routine maintenance and out-of-course repairs.
  • Collaborate with planners and contractors to coordinate equipment movements.
  • Operate heavy machinery, vehicles, and lifting equipment within designated work areas.
  • Perform fabrication and assembly of components as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with safety procedures and regulations.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and optimize efficiency.
  • Monitor and report on equipment condition, identifying potential issues before they become major problems.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members as needed.

Requirements:

  • A trade background and relevant qualifications are highly desirable.
  • Previous experience in related industries is beneficial.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Current C Class Driver's Licence is essential for this role.
  • Forklift and MR Drivers Licences are advantageous but not mandatory.
