As a seasoned Senior Security Engineer, you will be part of the Vulnerability Management and Remediation Operations (VMRO) team in Sydney, Australia. This team is responsible for identifying, assessing, prioritizing, detecting, and driving the remediation of vulnerabilities across Amazon's vast infrastructure, services, and applications.

You will lead the development and optimization of vulnerability scanning, correlation, and prioritization capabilities to enhance our operations. You will also investigate and triage vulnerabilities, identify severity, and scope potential impact to Amazon.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing automation, tools, and workflows to improve our operations capabilities
  • Partnering with software engineering and operations teams to identify and address coverage and detection capability gaps across Amazon
  • Mentoring junior security engineers and sharing your expertise in vulnerability management best practices
  • Collaborating with information security leadership to set the strategic direction for the VMRO program and report on key performance metrics

This role requires a deep understanding of vulnerabilities, exploits, and vulnerability management systems, as well as experience developing vulnerability assessment tests, tools, and exploits in programming languages like Python and Java.

AWS services experience is highly desirable, and a strong background in networking, operating system internals, and system design will be valuable in this position.
