About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Power Systems Engineer to join our team at the Australian Energy Market Operator. As a key member of our Operational Analysis and Engineering team, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of power system studies and models.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform power system modelling and studies, including wide-area simulations using PSS/E and PSCAD/EMTDC.
  • Develop high-quality technical reports with study outcomes and recommendations.
  • Support the Manager in presenting technical findings to stakeholders and addressing feedback.
  • Assist in investigation of power system oscillations with existing and new methods.
  • Collaborate with various AEMO departments and Network Service Providers for technical discussions.
  • Provide ad hoc support as necessary with required analysis and simulations for supporting the NEM RTO and making operational decisions.

Requirements:

  • Electrical Engineering degree with a focus on power systems and/or power electronics.
  • Extensive experience in power systems and/or power electronics modelling and simulations.
  • Proficiency in using power system tools like PSCAD/EMTDC and PSS/E for wide-area simulations.
  • Strong understanding of power system dynamics, stability concepts, and national electricity rules.
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills, with the ability to present technical findings and manage multiple projects.
