Position: Senior Project Manager / Battery Lead

Location: Flexible within Australia

The Green Recruitment Company is collaborating with a prominent independent power producer (IPP) dedicated to advancing Australia's energy transition. Our goal is to expedite the implementation of renewable energy solutions for a sustainable future. We focus on the development, financing, construction, and management of renewable energy initiatives, including solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

We are in search of a highly qualified and seasoned Senior Project Manager to become part of their team. The ideal candidate will possess a robust history of steering utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects from initial concept to Final Investment Decision (FID). This position demands an individual with comprehensive knowledge of the Australian energy landscape and the capability to navigate through all essential development milestones of BESS initiatives.

Core Responsibilities:
  1. Direct and oversee utility-scale BESS projects from the initial concept stage to FID.
  2. Manage all facets of project development, including feasibility assessments, site selection, permitting, and stakeholder engagement.
  3. Guarantee the successful achievement of all critical development milestones, such as land acquisition, grid connection approvals, environmental evaluations, and regulatory compliance.
  4. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to obtain necessary permits and approvals.
  5. Formulate and manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively.
  6. Perform financial modeling and risk evaluations to facilitate investment decisions.
  7. Negotiate and secure project financing, encompassing equity and debt arrangements.
  8. Establish and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including government entities, utilities, landowners, and community organizations.
  9. Represent the organization at industry conferences, public hearings, and community forums.
  10. Work alongside engineering teams to ensure technical feasibility and optimal design of BESS projects.
  11. Supervise procurement processes, including the selection of contractors, suppliers, and technology providers.
  12. Remain informed about regulatory developments, market trends, and technological innovations in the Australian energy sector.
  13. Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on market intelligence and regulatory shifts.
Required Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Business, or a related discipline.
  2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in the Australian energy sector, focusing on utility-scale BESS or solar projects.
  3. Proven experience in leading BESS projects from conception to FID.
  4. Strong grasp of the Australian regulatory framework, grid connection procedures, and market dynamics.
  5. Excellent project management capabilities with a demonstrated ability to deliver projects within timelines and budgets.
  6. Outstanding communication and negotiation skills.
