Position: Senior Project Manager / Battery Lead

Green Recruitment Company is collaborating with a prominent independent power producer (IPP) that is leading the charge in Australia's transition to renewable energy. Our objective is to enhance the implementation of sustainable energy solutions that contribute to a greener future. We focus on the development, financing, construction, and management of renewable energy initiatives, including solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

We are in search of a highly qualified and seasoned Senior Project Manager to become part of their dynamic team. The successful candidate will possess a robust history of steering utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects from initial conception to Final Investment Decision (FID). This role demands an individual with extensive knowledge of the Australian energy landscape and the capability to navigate all critical development phases of BESS initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Direct and oversee utility-scale BESS projects from initial idea through to FID.
  2. Manage all facets of project development, including feasibility assessments, site selection, permitting, and stakeholder engagement.
  3. Guarantee the successful achievement of all essential development milestones, such as land acquisition, grid connection approvals, environmental evaluations, and regulatory compliance.
  4. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to obtain necessary permits and approvals.
  5. Formulate and manage project budgets, timelines, and resources efficiently.
  6. Perform financial modeling and risk evaluations to support investment decisions.
  7. Negotiate and secure project financing, encompassing equity and debt arrangements.
  8. Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government entities, utilities, landowners, and community organizations.
  9. Represent the organization at industry conferences, public hearings, and community discussions.
  10. Work alongside engineering teams to ensure technical feasibility and optimal design of BESS projects.
  11. Supervise procurement processes, including the selection of contractors, suppliers, and technology providers.
  12. Stay informed about regulatory changes, market trends, and technological advancements in the Australian energy sector.
  13. Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on market intelligence and regulatory updates.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Business, or a related discipline.
  2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in the Australian energy sector, focusing on utility-scale BESS or solar projects.
  3. Proven experience in leading BESS transactions from conception to FID.
  4. Strong understanding of the Australian regulatory framework, grid connection processes, and market dynamics.
  5. Excellent project management skills with a proven ability to deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
  6. Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities.
